forced shutdown
When I turn my computer off I get the error: 1 program need to close: Iexplorer.exe
Which I don't have it open. Even if I opened it I closed it. This started doing this today. Any ideas what to do?

I would probably check for toolbars that have been installed to Internet explorer. Usually has to do with online sevices that update a particular webpage or service on the machine.
I don't usually use the IE8. I use Firefox 6.2
Have you installed some new software? Some programs will do auto-updates using IE with no visible window in the background.
When you have nothing running, go to Taskmanager / Processes and see if there is an entry called iexplore.exe*32.
Hello Rose,
In addition, if you just recently closed IE8/IE9, then it may take a few moments for the iexplorer.exe process to actually end in Task Manager automatically.
If you like, you could give the Shutdown shortcut in the tutorial below a try to see how it may work for you. When used it does a forced shutdown.
Shut Down Computer Shortcut - Create
OR
Shut Down - Add to Desktop Context Menu
Hope this helps,
Shawn
How long after you close IE8 would you say before you shut down the computer?
If to soon afterwards, you might wait a minute longer to give the process (iexplorer.exe) a chance to finish ending to see if it continues to this or not. The process takes a moment or two after you close IE8 to actually end in the background.
Oh, ok.
Do you have any gadgets running that may reference or use Internet Explorer for it's data? You could close the gadgets one by one to test and see if you still get the message afterwards.
If it still gives you this error message, then as a test, completely reset Internet Explorer to default. This will disable all add-ons and toolbars that may be at fault.
If it still gives you this error message after all of this, then how does the force shutdown shortcuts I posted above work to hopefully not get the message anymore.
