    Can't run .exe files


    I know some people already asked this question before, but nothing of what has been suggested works for me.
    A couple of months ago I got Windows 7. Everything worked just fine until yesterday. I ran a full scan using "Avast!" anti-virus. It found a couple of malwares which I deleted. I rebooted my PC, and to my surprise I couldn't open any .exe file, I only managed to open Explorer by going to where it's installed and clicking "iexplore" Nothing besides explorer and some Windows tools work.
    Following some suggestions, I downloaded extension fixes ( which came as .reg files) both in safe and normal mode,and tried to change the .exe and exefile values using the registry editor. I tried downloading a few programs which were meant to automatically fix the problem, but I couldn't run them either. I tried updating aswell but the problem is still here.
    If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

    The SFC /scannow did the trick.

    Seems like the new Avast definitions are causing the problems.
