Windows 7: Taskbar hidden when using browser

Hi everyone,



So I just noticed earlier that whenever my browser is open I can't access my task bar. I keep the tb hidden, but I've never had this problem in the past. I'm not in full screen mode so I'm at a loss. I'm using Chrome if it matters. Thanks in advance for the help.

Does this problem occur in any other program? If not, does it occur in any other browser, say Firefox or Internet Explorer?

I just tried it in IE and it works fine, so I'm assuming it's Chrome?

Most likely. Try uninstalling Chrome using CCleaner...

Also, if the taskbar is on auto-hide, it will automatically close when full screen programs such as Google Chrome are maximized.See if it's turned on using the tutorial below. If so, turn it off.

if I uninstall chrome will I lose all my bookmarks/extensions?

You shouldn't lose the but just in case, you should sync them with your Google Account. To do this, click the little spanner in the top right corner and from there, navigate to:
Options ---> Personal Stuff ---> Sync ---> Set up sync...

You can then sync all of your bookmarks, extensions and user settings to your Google Account. This will be stored online until you need it again.

You should also copy the user settings folder for Google Chrome which can be found at:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data

There should be a folder called Default which you should copy to your Desktop. When you have re-installed Chrome, you can then move the folder from your Desktop to the previous directory. The folder will more than likely be hidedn so you may have to enable 'Show All Folders'.

Ok, so it appears to be fixed. I closed all my tabs and open windows in Chrome. Opened them back up and the task bar now appears when I hover over it. Weird stuff. Thanks for your help! This forum is great. Every time I come here with an issue you vets are always extremely helpful in fixing my problem. I wish I had time to hang out here more often and learn cool stuff to do with my lappy. Anyways, until the next time

Right click on Start Button, click on Taskbar, uncheck hide Taskbar
