Windows 7: How exactly do I connect my laptop to HDTV using VGA to RGB (Yprpb)?

Here's some miscellaneous help for you. I think if you read through the material it will lead you to the resolution of your problem:

Connect your computer to a TV from Microsoft

What you'll need if you have an HDTV – from Microsoft
What you'll need if you have a standard-definition TV – from Microsoft

TV – CONNECT TO COMPUTER – HDMI CABLE
This is your BEST option, if your laptop has an HDMI output and your TV has an HDMI input, then all you have to do is connect your laptop and your TV with a good quality HDMI cable - 1.1 or better. (See CHART at bottom of post.)

TV – CONNECT TO COMPUTER – RGB IN
If your TV has an input that is [RGB IN], (that port looks just like the port that you use, to add an external monitor to your laptop) all you have to do is connect your laptop to that port with the proper cable -- one that has an RGB connector on both ends. (They are usually blue color.)

TV – CONNECT TO COMPUTER – S-VIDEO OR VGA OUT
You can use either the S-Video out or VGA out connectors on your laptop to connect it to your tv. But you'll also need to use a male to male 3.5mm AUDIO CABLE from the headphone/speaker port on your laptop to the audio input of your tv to get sound from it.

TV – CONNECT – ‘RGB IN’ SLOT – FOR COMPUTERS
The RGB In slot is specifically for the PC. (TV's from LG have "RGB" inputs as well as DVI, AV (the old fashioned Video In), analog LH and RH sound, Component, SCART, and HDMI.)

To use your laptop with the tv as a monitor connect the VIDEO MONITOR cable from your PC to the TV, then on the TV go to INPUT, and select the RGB input VIA THE TV’S REMOTE. No need to disconnect the computer -- the remote will "flip it" instantly. LG did their homework on this function properly. The LG TVs work an absolute treat when you want to use them as PC monitors as well as TV sets.

TV –DISPLAY + TUNING PROBLEMS

Press, say F5, (or other key --usually marked) to switch off the laptop’s own monitor and then you can use the maximum resolution your video card and monitor are capable of. If you have a high resolution video card you can connect the HDMI card to the TV giving fantastic HD quality video too.

If the screen looks stretched, or part of the screen seems cut off, you probably need to adjust the screen resolution in Windows. Or, if you can't see Windows on your TV, you might need to reconnect the computer to your monitor and adjust the screen resolution before you connect to your TV.

And try this: After you have connected it, go to Control Panel, Display, Adjust Resolution, and then click Detect. The TV should show up on the right.
