Windows 7: Unremovable "recommended program"

Unremovable "recommended program"

Niggling minor issue...

When I right-click on an .hdmov file and choose OPEN WITH a program that shouldn't be in the upper list is 'recommended."

I have searched the registry for .hdmov, for the program's name and for "recommended." No key referencing that program can be found. Even exported, then removed, relevant OPEN WITH keys, to no effect. On-line tips list the usual places to look, but none has this entry.

It has to be there...and I'd like to know where. Thanks

Hello Borate,

The free program in the tutorial below may be able to help you remove this from "Open with".

Open with - Clean Up and Remove Programs

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks Shawn. I had already manually removed the reference that the tool lists, with no joy. However, your reply reminded me that I had not searched for "ehshell" - which is Windows Media Center. Sure enough, another key was the culprit and the errant entry is now banished. Insignificant, yet satisfying.^

Appreciate the time you took to point me to that handy utility.
