Solved Medium set as Default OS zoom - how to change it to Smaller?

Hello, all~

I recently received a new computer from my company's PC support folks and somehow they've set things up such that, under Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display, "Medium" is set as the "(default)" font zoom.

I've set my preferred size to Smaller and rebooted, but there are some cases where the OS looks to that Default setting when rendering fonts - the easiest example is following a reboot: the fonts on the login screen are rendered at the Default zoom size.

So, my question is, how do I change the system default font zoom?

Thanks in advance,

- Nathan

Hi, Shawn~

Thanks for your reply.

After applying the registry file from Option Three and rebooting, Medium is still listed as the default OS zoom.

...do you have any other ideas I could try?

Thanks,

- Nathan

Are you part of a domain?

If so their settings may be overriding yours when you coputer logs into the domain, and you'll need to have them set it.

If not, then you could do a search for LogPixels in the registry using the Find and Find Next option in the tutorial below to make sure that each one that is found is set to 60 (hex). When finished, restart to apply.

Registry Editor - Find and Find Next - Vista Forums

Hey, Brink~

Yes, I am part of a domain, but I don't believe this is a value that's set at that level.

Looking through the registry for LogPixels, I found:

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\RtlQueryRegistryConfig\TrustedTypesKeyList]USR|Control Panel|Desktop
...was set to 4

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Hardware Profiles\0000\Software\Fonts
...was set to 78

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Hardware Profiles\0001\Software\Fonts
...was set to 78

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\RtlQueryRegistryConfig\TrustedTypesKeyList]USR|Control Panel|Desktop
...was set to 4

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Hardware Profiles\0000\Software\Fonts
...was set to 78

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Hardware Profiles\0001\Software\Fonts
...was set to 78

Each has been set to 60 (hex) and, upon rebooting, "Smaller" is now flagged as the Default system font.

Thanks!

- Nathan
