Disk file structure corruption

W7 on an Intel 2600K with an Asus P8P67LE MB.

During software configuration on this new 64-bit box, I am seeing occasional, seemingly random disk corruption, which CHKDSK fixes. The O/S seems stable.

One example: after coming out of hibernation on drive 1 (system), corruption occurred on drive 2 (files). Another instance: after awakening from hibernation on drive 1, that drive was corrupt. Subsequent awakenings were fine.

In the opinion of experts who might frequent this forum, what might be the cause? Several on-line articles have hinted that certain (BIOS) voltages may need a tweak.

Software is not suspect, as the very same programs are running now as were on the old 32-bit machine. Over many years it never experienced disk corruption.

Why don't you as a first step disable hibernation on those drives? If the problem is solved, then you know it has to do with hibernation and probe it further.

Good suggestion Alfred - uh, I mean, Bill.^

The corruption occurred over a week-long period, prior to use of hibernation. The examples I cited were simply two instances that seemed to coincide with that mode when it was first tested only today.

Run a SMART tool like crystalinfo as well as the hdd diagnostic tools for your hard disks. Post the results here.
