ah well, u see that's not wot i have in mind. so ok, my laptop currently has 160gb sata and i'm hoping very soon to replace it with a 500gb sata. thus i would clone the 160gb saving a disk image onto my external hdd then put it aside, bring in the 500gb load up the 7 dvd-rom select repair and point it at my image on external hdd and restore..and bob's ur uncle fanny's ur aunt as they say.
so in this scenario i believe this is how THAT'S done
Lets say these updates are "beta" will Windows Update automaticly upgrade the patches to the final versions when available?
I have checked my Notepad.exe, and it is version 7600.16385. Checked Windows Update just now, and it has nothing for me. How do we get this newer version 7600.16399?
You find the stand alone installer for these "hot fix" updates which are floating around at various places on the net and install them. Each update has its own stand alone installer. However, if these hotfixes are really necessary, they will eventually be made available automatically through windows update. They are probably not fully tested at this point which is why they have not yet shown up on windows update and some of them may simply be "test" updates which are not necessary anyway. The safest course would be to just wait for windows update. Of course I just went ahead and installed them and haven't noticed any ill effects so far but I would recommend just waiting for them to show up on windows update.
