My user name has disappeared post-virus, but my files haven't
Heads up, I don't have a ton of experience with computers:
About a week and a half ago, I got this trojan virus that did what it was meant to do and screwed things up. I installed an antivirus software (Kaspersky 2012), which I believe performed a system restore on my computer as a measure to get rid of a few of the more entrenched programs. Since then, I've lost a lot of seemingly unrelated programs, including the recycle bin, the calculator, MS Paint, MS Visual Studio, and files such as my pictures. Furthermore, when opening Computer, the Users file now displays a user name that is the name I originally gave the laptop when I first got it. My user name and my girlfriend's are M.I.A (despite the fact that the login icons are still accurate).
What's odd is that when I open a program, such as MS Word, and go to the Recent Documents listing in the File menu, I can open files that were in that previous username, complete and intact. But when I go to the Save As or Open menu options, the from location lists a directory I can't find in the pull down tabs, and often, I can't find that subfolder any other way (i.e. search). It's like all the data in that user name is now hidden from me. The icons used to log in to either username are still accurate, but the "Users" file isn't.
What I've tried:
System Restore - only goes to the date I installed Kaspersky.
Unhiding files
Creating another admin account
Searching through other accounts on the computer.
My question is: How do I get my user name back? I feel like I'm using a compromised OS.
Apologies for extraneous/incomplete info. I've attached two pictures. One is of Computer showing a directory that I can't find in the pull down tabs, and the other is one under advanced setting on system properties that shows that the user names do still exist on the computer.
