remember I have even tryed replacing ci.dll from the restore partition, from other win7 computer and just deleting it so it is reinstalled by system repair, but it changes the size every time(shortens) and never wasnt shown as corrupt. ocasionally i saw a cmd prmpt message " you cant alter this file as it is flagged by startup repair for fixing, so i went 3-4 more rounds and no help but flag lifted

have googled ci.dll missing and am sifting thru all of the stuff there to see if there is anything applicable to your case.

Hang in there a little longer. I'm trying to avoid having to do a clean install.

Do you happen to know if the Service Pack 1 (SP1) update was every applied to this computer?

Do you know if the Win 7 DVD is pre-or post-SP1, in other words, does the Win 7 dvd already have SP!? Unlikely, but possible.
