    Can't get a WEI rating.

Has anyone had a problem getting a Windows Experience Index rating?

I keep trying to get one and it won't work. The progress bar moves about 5% of the way and then stops. I have closed all running programs and let it sit for an hour. Task manager shows WinSAT.exe at 0% CPU usage.

    Any ideas?

Yeah, I saw that too. I ran the system information out of Steam. Apparently Steam doesn't get it.

    Hi dukeofhurl, welcome

Yeah, lol I was just about to comment on that. 1969 huh.

    Maybe post this here: https://www.sevenforums.com/general-d...ur-wei-40.html

Seems Freelancer852 has a problem running it when he put in 8gb of memory on post 399, maybe a connection?

Thanks for the heads up on that. I haven't received that error. The progress bar just stops.

Hi, I had the same problem, the progress bar just stopped and it even made windows crash. I had to press the power button to reboot. It fixed everything when i installed the latest catalyst pack for my vga card. Mine is also an ati but an older one, a mobility x600. Hope this helped.

It's probably your Graphics driver, yours is from Nov last year.
The first part of the WEI is the Graphics check and it's probably hanging on that old driver.

I fixed this with help from other threads and forums. I disabled write-caching on my hard drives and the WEI jumped to 5.8.

    Hi there
There's been problems with WEI on build 7048.

This *might* work for you -- it did for me.

    1) Instal the official chipset drivers for your machine --even if you get a message "current driver is newer than the version you are trying to install.

I used the Mobile Intel express GM965 chipset on the "offending" laptop rather than the "out of the box W7 Microsoft supplied one's".

    2) Re-boot

    3) runthe COMMAND LINE version of the program

in elevated mode run a CMD prompt (open run command box as administrator) winsat formal -v

    This fixed it for me

    cheers
