Program "stopped working" - Windows shutting down for over 2 hours ?

Ran Acronis True Image 2011 image backup last night and was set to auto shut down after image/verification completed.

This morning the screen still had Acronis running with the message "Program has stopped working". Closed Acronis and tried to reboot...but after two hours I still have the "closing" message on the screen:

"Operations are in progress. Please wait
The machine will be turned off automatically after the operations are complete"

Relatively small Windows installation with maybe 50 gigs being used on disk.

Have tried the PC case restart button...but nothing happens ?

Should I turn the PC box on & off via the main switch on the back of the box ?

    Thanks...TRinAZ

This message is caused by Acronis. If you left the default verification schedule set, it will verify what is set to verify before it shuts down. This could be quite a few backups.
I just let mine run and then made sure all defaults are set to not schedule verifications.

You could try to shutdown and reboot but I have not tried that.
