    Can't add a right mouse program option to the folder file type


    In XP when I chose Folder options and then the File types tab, Folder was listed as a file type (Extension=None). I could select it, click the Advanced button and add a program to that file type. I would add the phrase CommandPrompt connected to the program cmd.exe. This then would allow me to right click on a folder and open the DOS window at that location. A big time saver for the work I do. I cannot find how to do this in Windows 7.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello Neal, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    Windows 7 already has a Open command window here item in the context menu of folders and drives. You would need to press and hold Shift and right click on the folder or drive to see it by default.
    The tutorial below will show you how to not have to press Shift to be able to just right click on a folder or drive to see Open command window here in the context menu.
    In addition, the tutorial below will show you how to add Open command window here as Administrator in the context menu of folders and drives to be able to open a elevated command prompt at that location.
