How do i get the OS to show both date and time on the taskbar?

i just restarted my computer, did not install anything new and the taskbar now does not show date or time. I tried to increase the size of the taskbar to 3 rows but it still does not show date and time. I have checked the properties and notifications centre and restored them to default....
I have a music folder with 1,440 files and 38 folders and I like to keep the ones I've just added at the top. When I set the folder to sort by Date, it usually takes about a minute for the folder to show fully. The hard drive is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10. Is there anything I can do to speed it...
