No and there are quite a few different sets designed by other ppl who didnt either. In fact our Mr Grim made a nice blue set which you can find by searching.

Those stinking yellow bellied folder icons! I'll get my revenge yet, you just wait! Ha!

Well, they do let you change them - make them paisley ... knock yourself out!

The reason that they havent changed them is that the appearance of the icons is one of the first things that most ppl change, so they dont see the need to put the time, money and effort in changing something that you will probably change yourself. Find a set that you like and enjoy your OS.

Using the icons I made you don't need any 3rd party software, our member Generator was kind enough create the installer for the icons I created, the icons themselves actually replace the shell and imageres dll's and the installer automates the replacement of the default dll's with the ones I created with the custom icons.

Unfortunately it has just come to my atention that all the links are down so if you want to try them you will need to wait for generator to come back online and fix them.

And another thing I wanted to mention is I fully agree with you about those horrible yellow folders being so last century and that's why I made my own.

Hey, they're just cheap manila folders, fer crying out loud! Maybe Home Office Premium Depot has some fancy ones . Maybe they should depict a jewel box or safebox or shoebox or drawer .

If they changed them, there would be some who would complain that they wasted resources on unimportant things, others would dislike whatever color scheme they chose.
They are in a no win situation on this one.

Hmm, imagine using all those unnecessary resources for animated icon, what would be the point exactly other then just looking pretty. Icons are there to be clicked on not to stare at and play with, so yeah you do sound a bit crazy.

I find the default icons better than the horrifyingly ugly teal ones found in Vista.
