windows 7 shutting down randomly I just installed a new motherboard in my HP Pavilion dv5000 laptop. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate. Now when I run windows it will just randomly shut down. Even when I was installing windows it shut down twice in tell I got it installed. I have check to see if it is overheating and it is not. If I run windows in Safe Mode it WELL not shut down as a mater of fact I am writing thes message from Safe Mode. It has been on for 2 hours without shuting down.
When I reboot to regular mode it will shut down within a few min.
What should I look at or is there a program I can run to find what is wrong.
I have already checked for virus.
I also reinstalled windows from scratch 3 times. | My System Specs |

Have you disabled automatic restart on system failure (blue screen) I believe you have this option by pressing F8 just before windows starts loading on boot up. It may be a blue screen and your not getting to see it.

I also reinstalled windows from scratch 3 times. hmmm sounds intersting... so on safe mode it doesnt shut-down and no blue-screen at all?.. so you have an IDE hard drive right? cuz if its the IDE hard drive you might need a replacement.
also, do you replace the motherboard by yourself or it was done in a shop? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number LENOVO IDEACENTRE K330 OS WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE SP1 64-BIT CPU INTEL I7 3.40 GHZ Memory 12GB Hard Drives 2TB |

yes in safe mode it doesn't shut down and in regular mode when it shuts down no blue screen
Yes it has a IDE drive.
I changed the motherboard. If it was done in a shop I would have taken it back already.
I don't understand way it works in Safe mode but not in regular mode. I don't believe the hard drive is bad it is a few weeks new and I also ran Sprite on it which found no errors even at low leavels | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilon dv 5000 Laptop OS Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit CPU 1.66GHz Motherboard HP Pavilon dv 5000 Memory 2 GB |

try loading normal mode, then type msconfig into the start menu, turn everything off, then restart. Enable things one by one until you find the culprit. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Build OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel Core2 Quad Q8300 2.5Ghz (@3.0Ghz) Motherboard Asus P5QD Turbo Memory Kingston HyperX 4x1GB DDR2 1066Mhz Graphics Card Asus/Nvidia 9500GT 1GB Sound Card On-Board HD Monitor(s) Displays 22" Widescreen TFT Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Plastic one Mouse Plastic one PSU 650w Case ATX Cooling 140mm front, 120mm Rear, 80mm Chipset + stock CPU and GPU Hard Drives 2x 320Gb Seagate SATAII RAID 0

I'm inclined to believe it is a driver issue. In safe mode, windows loads with only the minimal necessary drivers for it to work. Therefore, perhaps it is a driver that is causing the shutdowns. I would suggest you update all drivers for hardware and software and see if it continues. If not, we could enable driver verifier in an effort to identify the offending driver. But, doing that may require a reinstall and someone from crashes and debugging to read the dump files. You may have dump files in the current situation. You can find them in C;/windows/minidump. open that folder and Copy and paste the contents to your desktop (requires Admin approval). Right click them and select send to - compressed zip folder. also follow the instructions for posting in crashes and debugging. If updating drivers does not work, upload the mini dump and files from crashes and debugging in a new thread there. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built- Always under construction OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64/ linux in VM CPU Intel i7-3770K Motherboard Asus Maximus V Extreme Z77 Memory 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3-2400 (2X4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GTX 670 SC 4GB Sound Card On Board Monitor(s) Displays Asus 24" LCD Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech G510 Mouse Logitech G500 PSU CORSAIR AX850 Case Cooler Master HAF X Cooling Custom Water Cooling Hard Drives Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB, Samsung 830 256GB, Samsung HD103SJ 1TB .
