Windows 7: Task Scheduler not working (I HAVE looked!)

Task Scheduler not working (I HAVE looked!)

Many questions about this, but I found none that matched my problem, which were resolved.

Win 7 Home Prem 32

I had set up daily scheduled restore creation points, only to find that none had actually been created, when I tried to restore. I now have a non-working microphone

The schedules were working some time back, I am sure.....however...

I have it set to work whether I am logged in or not. I cannot see any restrictions that would stop it.

Triggers are : time based.
Action :"start a program c:\program files\deltacad\deltacad.exe" (browsed, not entered"
Conditions: Only when on 240V power
Settings: Allow task to be run manually
Stop the task if it runs longer than 3 days
If the running task does not end when requested, force it to stop.

History shows repeated successful completions.

Taskeng.exe is trusted in my security system (Comodo) and is running as a programme. Task Scheduler is shown as a Service.

I tried scheduling the running of a simple drafting programme that I have (deltacad.exe). The time came and went and nothing appeared to happen. I ran it manually using SCHTASKS.EXE /RUN /TN "task name". A very brief CMD window opened, and again it looked as if nothing had happened. However when I ran Process Explorer, there were 3 issues of the programme running: apparently one from the scheduled run and the others manual. None of them showed a GUI onscreen, and if I asked to bring the window to the front in Procexp, the option was greyed. running the programme itself, by actually activating it in Windows, resulted in a successful load and run.

EDIT: I have also set the schedule for each system start, and that is not working either.

Help?

Thanks for the reply. So does this mean that I cannot create a daily system restore, without using downloaded vb scripts or batch files?

EDIT: I seem to have SR set up right. I can do it fine manually on drive C:, which is set to protected.

I followed instructions here and they seem to make sense and to work for some people, but they do not work for me, either at system startup or on schedule. I see there is another poster on that page who gave up and used a script...presumably the one linked to here....they did not give a url

For what it's worth I manually create a System Restore point at least weekly...

I haven't had much luck using the scheduler myself. For awhile it was working for me using the Vista calendar. I could leave the calendar app closed and if a reminder was scheduled it would pop up using the task scheduler. But after awhile I kept getting some jazz about the file being corrupt. I couldn't count on it. I find it good to do Restore Point manually just because while it's running it's going to hog the hard drive anyway. Better if it doesn't come up in the middle of something disk intensive.

The download in the tutorial below works fine. You can type in a description and click OK. Very convenient.

hmmm...so what I am hearing is that it's dodgy. Thanks for the heads-up on the shortcut. I have read elsewhere that it's a goer, so I will grab it and try.

I have been happily sitting here thinking I had nice recovery points...and I reckon I did at one time. But they are too old to be useful.
