Windows 7 zip file date modified

"date modified" field does not update when files are replaced in a zip folder while running Windows 7 64-bit.

Data files are stored in zip files and utilized daily. At the days end the files are replaced with the most current revision. The updated file displays the correct "date modified", however when the filed is transfered into the zip file, the "date modified" displayed within the zip file does not update.

I don't have this problem with Windows XP or 2000. Is there some hidden setting that is needed for Windows 7 to recognize file modification dates just as every version prior?

It becomes frustrating that Microsoft continues to add nice new fancy operating features, but yet continuously fails to ensure the basic functions are maintained.

You must be seeing things because it updates the modified time just fine.

I've read several other threads with the same problem, but no resolution. The zip file is kept on a server running Windows server 2003. Workstations accessing the zip files run XP and 7. Date modified simply does not change when the file is updated, when viewing from a Windows 7 machine. But viewing from a Windows XP machine, everything is correct.
