    Windows 7 automatically changing display color


    Hey guys

    So about two days ago i went to make a folder on my desktop, randomly this text box comes up in the middle of my screen saying "Gamma correction" and my screen gets this weird yellow/orange tint to it. So naturally i searched the internet and found out that i could set my display calibration by going into "Display color calibration". Thinking i had to go through this whole process, i clicked "next" once and didnt even have to adjust everything, and the colors were back to normal. i thought "well that was easy".

    I put my computer into hibernation and came back a few hours later, logged in, and my screen was that weird yellow/orange tint again. so i did the same thing as before and it fixed it. Now everytime i bring my computer out of hibernation, i need to go through that whole process. is there a way to fix this?

    EDIT: Btw i have an Asus g50vt-x5 laptop and my graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 9800m GS

    Hello Italia366. This might be your graphics chip over heating, have you blown the dust out of the laptop recently?
    Go to control Panel/Color Management and make sure you have Use my settings for this device checked as shown.

    i dont think its my graphics card, because this happens when i wake the computer out of hibernation, so it's not like the graphics card is hot.

    Also i have that checked and i still have the problem. The color looks dulled and has a slight yellow tint. but like i said, as soon as i go into color management and start display calibration, it fixes....? lol

    should i try restoring to a point before it started happening? or is there another solution to this problem so that i can avoid using a restore point?

    Yes you cant try a restore point, but I don't belive it will fix it. Make sure you have the default Color profile set to the one in my snip. Click the Advanced tab in Color Management.

    The difference between mine and yours is:
    -my absolute colorimetric (simulate paper) is System Default (proofing- simulate paper/media color)
    -My viewing conditions profile is System Default (WCS profile for sRGB viewing conditions)

    EDIT: i just dont understand that this yellowish/orangish tint goes away if i bring up display color calibration and then close it (i dont even need to go through the process).

    EDIT2: and for some reason it is only out of hibernation mode (that ive tested) this happens. i restarted my laptop and it didnt happen. but it did when i took it out of hibernation

    You might try ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download to see if there are new drivers for your laptop. fill in the nubers if known or use the Model Automatic Detection link.

    what kind of drivers should i be specifically looking for?

    You'll be looking for graphics drivers to update them in case they are the culprit.

    First, I would launch an elevated command prompt by clicking the Start Orb and typing "cmd" into the box. Right click on the cmd program and Run As Administrator. Then type "sfc /scannow" and see if it finds and fixes any corrupt system files.

    If nothing is fixed, you might try updating your graphics card drivers. The latest ones for your card are located here:

    Please use the driver from ASUS, many makers modify the INF of drivers for function keys, etc in a laptop.
