Windows 7 Ultimate language versions

I understand that with Win7 Ultimate you have the possibility to convert your system from one language into another by using Win7 language packs.

My issue is that I'm searching for a reasonably priced way to obtain Win7 Ultimate 64bit in English, when it's released late October, and have come across a German webshop that advertises to now purchase the German language version of Vista Ultimate 64bit OEM bundled with a Windows 7 Upgrade Offer Form. That means I would get a German Vista now, and a German version of Win7 Ultimate 64bit in October. Is my assumption correct, that if I then apply an English language pack, my Win7 (and whole PC system) would be 100% converted into English, as if I had installed an English version of Win7 in the 1st place?

As for the price: the above offer stands at 168.99 Euro, which seems considerably less than the regular price to be expected here in Finland, where I live. Are there better offers around?

Cheers Uffe

Moi Uffe, tervetuloa foorumille.

Toimivat erinomaisen hyvin, koko käyttis on aina halutulla kielellä.

Language packs have been discussed in several threads here on the SevenForums. I'm using this thread to correct a mistake I've made. Today I got a PM from a new member from Finland who pointed out that I've unknowingly given partly untrue advice.

I 've said a couple of times that even you can change the language of separate user accounts, you can not change the language of the welcome / logon screen.

The PM showed me I've been wrong; there's so simple solution to this I can not believe I've not noticed it before. A picture is worth thousand words:

Thanks for one of our new members Juffe for pointing this out.

Change your Windows 7 language w/o having ultimate!
I found out that you can change your Windows 7 language without owning the Ultimate edition. You just need to download Vistalizator and the MUI language pack you need. Good for if you bought your laptop overseas in a different language.
