How can I gain access a folder? I have permission but cant view

I have a USB DD with an image from an old computer. I can view the public folders but not the main computer folder. I went into security and set permission but still can not access the folder. Any help is appreciated. Thank you for your assistance.

I clicked properties advanced and I get Unable to set new owner. The Media is write protected. This is a forensic copy of a drive from another computer. I can view the contents of the public folder but not the main computer files.
    I appreciate any help

If you can't modify the security permissions, then go ahead and install and use Take Ownership. Take Ownership Shortcut

Are you sure it ran properly? There must be some mistake... Never really seen the Take Ownership fail before... Can you view the files on a another computer or is it the same issue?

There might be a switch on the USB that locks the files or not. I used to have a USB like that, maybe yours is similar...

If this is a VHD file, try to attach it via Disk Management > Action button

    take ownership?

I am not sure it is running right. When I click on take ownership a box flashes on the screen and disappears. What should happen? I can access one of the folders on the drive (the public folder) but not the other main computer folder.
    Thanks

It'd be a lot easier for me to help you if you could take a screenshot of the drive and the folder you are trying to access.

When you try to open the RONBURGANDY folder are you getting the "Access Denied" message?

Try to do a CHKDSK H: /F on command prompt window. Let the CHKDSK finds and fixes any disk problems.

Now try to take ownership of the RONBURGANDY folder, and then try to open the folder.
