Windows 7: My laptop freezes while downloading torrents and streaming video's.

Hi,

My laptop keeps freezing up when I download torrents or watch video's (on youtube and other sites too). When it freezes, or if I can even call it that way, the sound seems to be slowing down extremely. Sometimes it picks back up and keeps running again, other times I need to reboot manually. I also did a memory test already without any errors so I don't think that is the problem. When I play games it does not freeze/crash at all. I think it has something to do with my new (wireless) router: TP-link TL-WR1043ND because it started around the time I hooked my laptop up on the new router.



I hope someone can help me with this because I have been searching forums for weeks now and can't find any problem ( or solution ) that matches mine.

If anyone needs any more specs etc. I'd be happy to post.

Might it help that it happens when my bandwith usage is high (20Mbs) ? -and it unfreezes when I wait long enough ?

I would try to call your Internet Providers or even go into the settings with a computer connected through Ethernet to your modem. When I need to go into these settings I get onto the computer connected to the modem with Ethernet. To get to your settings you type in your IP Address. For example: "http://555.555.1.1". In there you should be able to adjust your settings (If you know what your doing). If not, then again I would call your internet providers.

Well.. When I use a wired connection it does not crash :P so im sure it has something to do with my router wireless settings or my wireless card

But still in the settings are network options. Take a look at it then let me know if it has any errors or networking issues or if it says anything about wireless connections because it should list the devices connected.

Well .. im not sure if its an international company .. but its called ziggo .. and im from the netherlands .. im not sure if you are familiar with it ..

Check your computer for a virus.

Seeings as its a new router is it by something warm. Check to see if it's hot it may be overheating. This makes it fail when under load.
