A downloaded image of how flashget puts a box on the desktop ... it is always on the top of all the maximized windows ..... To get rid of this thing, it is to right click on the notification area icon, and exit .

If flashget it removed from the list of startup programs (write msconfig on search button of the start menu and hit enter ... click on the startup tab, and uncheck the entry), it will not be there every time, it will be there only when the program is running.

What happens when you mouse over it? Do you get any menu when you right-click it? What if you arrange the icons on the screen, does it allow a normal icon in the same place? Have you tried changing your desktop background?

Looks to me to be part of the manufacturer's On-Screen Display system - quite a few add an overlay to their special keys (especially on laptops) see if you have a function key to Mute sound - These icons should only show briefly but due to the programming can sometimes stick.

If it does turn out to be this you should check the Manufacturer's site for an update

Try going typing in msconfig then go to startup and uncheck that icon/file or whatever it is.
Then reboot to see if problem goes away.
This is something I would do along with going add/remove and uninstall it.
