"Open File Location" for all files
Hi there, Can someone please tell me why "Open File Location" is only available for shortcuts and is it possible to add this to all files? Cheers.

I think that the button "Open File Location" is available for shortcut because the file that it is linking to isn't in that position where the shortcut is.
In other words you're clicking Properties -> Open File Location on a shortcut because you don't know the real location of the file.
Instead, for example, if you have a folder on you desktop, it's "complete location" is displayed in Properties-General. To open it in windows explorer, just select the entire location and Copy it, later open libraries or anything else in windows explorer (like documents) and paste the location in the address bar located at the top of the window.
Sincerely I don't know if it is possible to add "Open File Location" to the Properties menù of all files.
If you hold down the shift key whilst clicking on an item, open file location usually appears as an option
Secondly, why would you need this to happen if you are already at the location of the file?
Thanks guys.
Obviously I wouldn't need to if I'm already at the file's location. I'm not talking about right-clicking the file, I'm talking about when a program is open in the taskbar then accessing the file's location from the taskbar icon Properties.
As with maccaquacker's response, that doesn't apply for programs open in the taskbar.
Yes, of course I can do that, but that's a lot of mucking around when the "Open File Location" button is one click.
Do you have a particular example, indexy-type programs such as media players usually let you do this anyway
I have this problem, and it's main concern is when performing searches via Windows Explorer.
It owuld be nice to right-click on an item of the search results and open it's location. Sometimes i can do this and sometimes i can't.
One more thing, i can NEVER search in documents or libraries folders, why is that ?
