How To Force Create An Extended Partition?
How do I tell Disk Management to force create a extended partition? When I click on "New Simple Drive" It doesn't give me the option to specify what type of partition to create. It automatically brings me to the size setting and drive letter settings page. I found it will auto-create a extended partition after you have more than 4 primary partitions on a single hard drive. Ugh, I want to turn off this "easy-setup" mode.
I've added a 1.5tb storage drive and want to format it as an extended.
Solved - I ended up running diskpart under cmd.exe with the command 'create partition extended'.
