Windows 7: step daughters laptop have disk errors

Hi Guys, really need some help, on my step daughters laptop and have disk errors on C:drive so unable to do a disk check and unable to do a system restore due to this issue, any suggestions please.

What are the errors? Does it crash?

Run a virus check (Here is Microsoft's virus scanner).

chkdsk will not run.......error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1, thats what comes up when trying to fix the c drive for errors.

If the Windows is on C: and running, windows will not allow you to run CHKDSK on C:. It will give a message saying that it can reschedule a disk check before the next reboot.

All you have to do after giving the CHKDSK command for C: is to accept the reschedule message and reboot. The system while rebooting runs the CHKDSK and will fix any errors it finds and then reboots the system to the desktop.

You can also do a SFC/ SCANNOW at elevated command prompt (right click on command prompt at Start - All Programs - Accessories and Run as administrator).

Looks like there is an error in the syntax.

Correct command would be SFC /SCANNOW (space before /) Sorry!
