Music folder display vs folder content display

Is there a way I can set this up so that when I open my Music folder that the sub folders inside are displayed in list view but when I open a sub folder the content is displayed in detail view without the whole thing reverting back to the last view I opted for? In other words...when I open my Music folder the sub folders are displayed as a list. That's fine. But when I open a sub folder to view the content I change the view to detail view. Then when I go back to the sub folders they've all changed to detail view too and I have to manually put em back to list view.

This tutorial from Microsoft is excellent, but it's for Vista. Does anyone know if all of these instructions work in Windows 7?

    Hello Oprez,

Is this in your Music "library" folder by chance?

If so, then this is normal in a library and cannot be changed. All included folders in a library share all folder view settings. Any change made in one included folder is also applied to all included folders in that library.

However, you should be able to set the folder views for how you like if you looking at it them from the C:\Users\(user-name)\Music folder though, and have them only be applied per folder and no other as you navigate.
    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanx guys. Brink...you hit the nail on the head. When viewing through C:\Users\(user-name)\Music it did exactly what I wanted but only after turning off all the navigation options to the left of the screen (which I don't like anyway). Now folders show up as a list...the content of the folders show up as details. HOORAH!
