I recently built a new PC - ASUS P8Z68-V Pro, i5-2500K and ASUS 550 GTX Ti OC GPU, 16G Ram Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit OEM System Bulder Pack. Everything was running fine for a couple of months then one morning I found the system had frozen and I had to do a hard reset. (Nothing really made itself noticable in Event Viewer that would indicate a hardware failure.) It was almost like it was in sleep/hibernation mode and wouldn't wake but I have all those functions disabled.
Upon rebooting I am now getting an error message saying there is no Bluetooth COM port detected. (MOBO has built-in BT.) I have reloaded and updated the BT
drivers but still the same error. I have verified that BT services are started and automatic. No BT devices are detected in device manager and when I try to configure a BT COM port there are no devices found to map to a port. When I try to start the ASUS BT program "BTGO", I get a message saying the BT device is not supported. Other error messages say the BT device is unplugged, turned off or not plugged in. I have checked in the BIOS that the BT controller is enabled and have tried everything I can think of to get the BT back online again but no success.
Should I try re-installing Windows 7? I started to do that but it looked like it was going to do a full install/upgrade. I am used to XP where it would give you the option of repairing the current install, but I am not seeing that with Windows 7.
I plead to the experts out there as to what I should try next? Is this even an OS problem or did the BT device on my MOBO just flake out?
Please help and thank you in advance!
