Hm, can you manually copy a large file from somewhere else into that folder just using explorer? See if it starts copying then craps out 75% of the way into it or if it denies it instantly?

Depending on what the download is (one file via firefox, or some other program updating itself, etc), since it doesn't occur immediately, the problem might be with a different directory - IOW, the download/update/install consists of more than one file in more than one place. Can you point the DL to a different location, or is it fixed?

It's fixed. It's a resource file for a web editor - XSitePro. I've contacted support for them as well, but i really thought it might be a windows 7 problem. The program crashed and i had to reinstall it, and now I can't download the Resource pack that it needs.

I meant copy a test file from somewhere on your hard drive into the location you are trying to download into to see if you really do or do not have permissions.

But as Flemur says, depending on what program you are downloading with, most of them download into a temp location, then when finished, move it to the final location. It could be the temp location that has the permission problem. But if that was the case then you should be having problems with any download you make from that program (IE/FF etc).

What program are you using toDL the file? That might help...

ALso: try downloading specifically to someplace outside your user folder (and outside the programs folders), just like c:/temp or somthing in case your DL program is launching some kind of lower security downloader which can't have acess to your user folder...

Yes I can download a file into the folder and I even deleted the file. As far as downloading the file I either double click it or right click it and 'Run as admin'.

BTW, I like your sig!

Do you still have the same problem, if you create a folder somewhere else on your HDD and copy/download the file to it?

When I click on the file it automatically downloads it. I don't have a choice as to which folder it downloads to.

I take it you're using Internet Explorer?

Access Denied - unable to display current owner.
I save a lot of files as PDFs. Recently, I saved a financial document to PDF and it seems to be secured somehow. It's a pdf. Adobe complains opening it, complaining "There was an error opening this document. Access denied." Instead of opening it with a right-click, I tried starting Adobe and...

!!UAC!! "File Access Denied" Even with admin, as owner, and permission
First off, I wasn't sure where the best place to post this would be, since UAC is supposed to be a security feature of windows 7 I figured the security section would be best. My apologies if I posted this in the wrong section. OK to the problem... Trying to simply copy/paste a game dll file...

changing file owner
I'm getting a few problems that seem related to the fact some of my files and folders are owned by the administrator or require administrator permissions. I use GFI Backup. It reports problems with lacking permissions to access certain files -- unless I turn off UAC. Also there are many...
