I don't have access to a file even though I'm the owner

I have a huge problem. I've been trying to download a resource pack for a program and it says
'you don't have write privileges to directory
    C\Users\......Resources\Clipart\Rules'

But when I check in the Properties it says I'm the Owner.
I REALLY need to get this downloaded and have no idea what to do. Now I've been trying to delete the folder and start all over again, and of course I can't do that either.

    can someone please help???
    Thanks!
    Jenny

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Before you try to open the download, right-click it and choose Run As Administrator then comply with any UAC prompt.

Failing that, you could try using the built-in Administrator account and try to open the file from there.

Hi Jenny, you can also try Take Ownership Shortcut to be sure you have ownership.

In windows XP when you take the ownership of a folder or file, you will automatically get the full control permissions.

In windows 7 Microsoft has changed that. Just by taking ownership will not automatically give you the full control permissions. After taking ownershop of a folder/file, you have to manually assign yourself full control permissions to be able to use that folder for copying, creating or deleting files/subfolders.

I've tried everything. It says i'm the owner and that I have permissions, but I still don't have access.

I added Everyone, but it still doesn't work. The file is an application and this is where I'm trying to change the permissions, but nothing is working. It gets about 75% finished and then I get the error.

It shouldnt even start if you truly had no permissions...

Is it possible that your harddrive is full? Or very very close to full? (There may be some space that the OS reserves that you cannlt go over so that the OS remains stable in an out of disk situation)

I have 70 GB free, so it's not a matter of space.
