W7 SP2 Virtual CD / DVD image mounter please in include this release

Hi all

I know a lot of MS developers read these Forums so if you are one this is directed particularly at you.

Please MS can you "Backport" the very useful CD / DVD Virtual mounter that exists in W8 dev preview edition to an SP2 version of Windows 7 -- I'm sure there will be an SP2 edition sooner or later.

I find this incredibly useful and having it natively in the OS seems a much better idea than messing around with 3rd party apps like daemon tools or alcohol 52% - if you just need a basic mounter this is streets ahead of the tricks (SPT / Virtual SCSI type of hardware) that the 3rd party apps use.

I'm not against 3rd party apps but things like these often don't work when you upgrade to even a new Service pack level -- and sometimes just when you get used to an application they "hobble" the features you want and go "PRO" i.e you have to PAY.

Now also that some DVD images - including the W8 developer edition itself - are larger than the max standard DVD image (4.7GB) it doesn't make sense in burning these to physical disks any more - and with large external USB drives (3TB and more appearing) saving the images on to USB drives is a much better solution too.

Cheers
jimbo
