Does Windows 7 Enterpise HDD errors arer logged by default?
How to confirm that Windows 7 logs also hard disk read errors?
External USB hdd errors?
Perhaps some logging level settings?
The problem is that I have a 2TB Seagate hard disk which doesn't work properly on other PC with Windows XP op system where event log was full of HDD warnings or I/O errors and now I'd like to check this HDD on Windows 7 PC. But there is no errors in Windows 7 when connected using external USB HDD dock. May it be that these just aren't logged in Windows 7?
The other PC Win XP had 2 identical 2TB Seagate drives and problem was only with one of these drives. No matter if this HDD was connected directly to internal SATA port or through external USB. From this I'd suggest that problem is with disk onboard I/O controller and expect the errors to appear also in Windows 7 PC.
