    Countdown to Win7 SP1

Sorry couldn't resist...People will go stir crazy...Not much for Non-TechNet people to look forward to except the actual Retail release.

    Sooo...I thought I'd start a thread about SP1.

There's not really much (yet) that I can see for Microsoft to fix, but there are bound to be some things. Most first Service Packs are usually nothing more than a consolidation of previously released patches.

But Seven is just so dang good, it's (I think) the first Windows Beta ever that people have been using as their primary OS. If the BETA/RC is that good, surely the final will be spectacular.

Me, I'm leaning towards Microsoft adding new features and such with the SP1 that didn't make it into the final release...

My version of the RC has the chkdsk /r bug - ran it until it sucked up all my RAM.
If they haven't fixed it for the RTM, then there's a prime candidate for SP1

8% through the TechNet download for x64 RTM - 15 1/2 hours remaining!!!

True but i have a feeling they want to get out a service pack A.S.A.P because of the people who won't upgrade untill the first service pack.

I believe Windows 7 SP1 will be one of the most uneventful service pack releases ever.

    Quoted For the truth.

I did not experience anything bad in Windows Seven in my daily interactions (Primary OS) with it. Everything just worked for me after installation.

I hope the SP 1 will include stuff that will make '7' shine more.

Dang, '7' is just that good (at least for me).

They had better fix that 'octal' mode register-display, in Calculator...

SP1 should come quickly because lotsa businesses won't upgrade until it arrives.

MS knows this - the attitude has been around forever.

They'll leave it just long enough so it doesn't look like an obvious marketing ploy.

Then all the retail dvd's people bought will be redundant as they go in search of the integrated 7 SP1 .iso.

Quick question . . . so, are you TechNet subscribers essentially receiving a copy of Win7 Ultimate RTM without time limits or restrictions for the cost of your yearly subscription?

Do they let you use new versions of Office after its release, as well?

    Thank you.
