What recovery disk? THe Recovery DIsks are to restore WIn7 to factory condition, used as a backup to the more stable method which is running the Recovery Partition from Win7 or boot using it's hotkey.

To Repair Win7 when it will not boot, use System Recovery Options preferably from the DVD or REpair CD. BOot in to accept any offered repair. If Win7 fails to start at reboot, boot back in to run Startup Repair repeatedly.

Startup Repair will automate System Restore, System File Checker and Disk Check, but if it fails try them manually from the Recover Tools list there. Run SFC or Disk Check from a COmmand Line: SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot

Post back the results. You may be able to delete windows.old archive if not needed, as well as back up stranded files, using this method: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

Does the HD register in BIOS setup, accessed by tapping the key given on first boot screen at restart? Test your HD using maker's HD Diagnostic extended booted CD scan.

How did you boot into System Recovery Options to run Startup Repair? Use the System Repair Disc - Create
or Win7 Installation DIsk REpair console.

If no installation shows after booting into Repair then open a Command Line from the Options list, type bootrec /fixboot and bootrec /fixmbr to see if it will show up for Repair.

    THen run Startup Repair repeatedly.

Next make sure the Win7 partition or it's 100mb SYstem REserved partition are marked Active using Diskpart from Comannd Line: Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two). If 100mb is marked Active and it will not start after running Startup Repair 3 times then switch the Active flag to WIn7 partition itself to run Startup REpair 3 times with reboots.

You can see a picture of your HD to mark Active and try another method which sometimes works to start Win7: boot free Partition Wizard bootable CD, check for Active partition and/or change using rightclick>Modify. Then click on HD to highlight it, from Disk tab select REbuild MBR, reboot. THis may preclude the need to run 3 Startup Repairs from Repair CD/DVD.

If these and the steps I gave earlier repair attempts all fail then you'll need to run Factory Recovery from its partition, from disks you made or can order from manufacturer's Tech Support. Or you can find a Win7 installation DVD for your version to clean reinstall with the Product Key on COA sticker following these steps to get a perfect reinstall: Reinstalling Windows 7

You can copy out your files using Repair CD or DVD with this method: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

Please fill in your SYstem Specs in the bottom left corner of post - at least your computer make/model.

Where did you get Win7? If you burned it yourself, confirm the ISO integrity or download another and burn to DVD using IMgBurn at 4x speed, or write to flash stick using Universal USB Installer
with Win7 in dropdown menu. Boot stick under USB, Removable or HD's.

You must be booting the DVD: How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD
or use the one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first boot screen to trigger the bootable device.

If this fails, wipe the HD using free Partition Wizard bootable CD (from Disk tab after clicking on HD) which will cause the installer to autostart and may clear the boot sector of interfering code.

Reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

While in BIOS setup, set SATA controller to AHCI first, then IDE mode if necessary.

You must do all the steps in order, not freak out again and do something disastrous, ask back any questions to get the steps done correctly. We are not here to babysit those who like to break their toys and will not help further if this persists.
