    Indexing Locations Grayed Out

Indexing Locations are grayed out. How can I fix this?

    Hello Kurt,

This usually happens when the Windows Search service has been disabled. You could use step 5 in Option One of the tutorial below to enable it again.

    Index - Enable or Disable

    Hope this helps, :)

Did you both enable and start the "Windows Search" service?

In that case, you could try doing a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated when you know the index worked to avoid more drastic measures.

Depending on what you need the index for, you might consider doing non-indexed searches. They may be a bit slower, but they will always be accurate.
