Downloads not showing up in download folder

I have set my Downloads folder to be on a second drive. by right clicking Downloads folder then selecting properties/location/"new location which I changed to F" clicked yes to move all associated files.

it has been working for a few days now all well and good.
earlier I went to download a image and when I right clicked the image and selected save as, a window appears where your able to choose a destination. The destination I wanted was already there as usual which is "F/Downloads" what caught my attention was within that window it usually shows all the pictures that I have in my Downloads folder but only one of them was there. I clicked save and the image saved.
I navigated to my Downloads folder on my F drive and the image was not there. All the rest of the images I previously downloaded was, even the only one that showed up in the "save to destination window" not sure of the proper name.
I tried to download another picture and when I right clicked it and selected save as
the "save to destination" window opened and showed the same single image as before and also the 1 previous download picture. Scratching my head I double checked the destination, destination correct F/Downloads. I click save, and navigate my way to F/Downloads and neither of the two pictures are there.

On my F drive I only have 1 Downloads folder. So where are these pictures that are not showing up in the folder but yet showing up in the "save to destination" window? That is addressed as F/Downloads.

note: navigation to F/Downloads was done two ways if it helps to know
    1) start orb/user "which in my case is Trinity"/Downloads
    2)start orb/computer/F/Downloads

any help with this mystery would be greatly appreciated

    patio thanks for the reply,
    Is F: an external HDD ? ?
No F is on a internal secondary drive that has 2 partitions

Does it get unplugged occasionally ? ?
no it is always connected internaly

When you put a flash drive in does F: change it's drive letter ? ?
no it never changes, I have partitioned the secondary drive and set F to represent the partition
the other partition is Set to E which has another windows os on it. that one does change to c if that os is in use.

Also post which browser is being used here...
I mainly use firefox and first noticed this on firefox, but the same happens while using IE

Firstly always observe in the top left hand of the downloading dialogue box exactly where the file is being downloaded to. Also the downloads dialogue box will change every time you change 'it'!
So for instance if I download a pic file to my pictures folder it will be 'there' that the next file will download to next time I want to download another file no matter what it is.

Runkle_sp1 thanks for the reply and trying to assist with this issue,
in the dialog box The address/destination F/Downloads has not changed for each download in the top left hand corner, unless I change destinations, which I have not done. Like I stated in first post, I checked the destination before I clicked save. maybe I was not clear sorry if I was not. this is a strange issue and I am scratching my head on this one.
it is like I have 2 F/Downloads, but the second one where files are being saved to is invisible. I thought of this and went into folder options and now have view hidden files and folders unchecked, but there is no 2nd F/Downloads that appears. I also tried to re-boot and still same issue

Find a new picture on the Internet.

Make note of its file name.

Download and save it in your normal manner.

Then do a search for that file name on your hard drive using a good search tool such as Everything from Voidtools.com.

I found out I was able to cut and paste my downloaded pictures which I have done, but I also took a photo to help explain what is going on.

ignatzatsonic, thanks for the tip.however I did not have to do that, to retrieve the images. I just cut from the dialog box, and pasted them elsewhere. sorry for the crappy picture but its the best I could do with what I have on hand

I've figured out what your getting at. The files don't show up in the 'Save as' dialogue box. In the botton right hand box on the dialogue box it is trying to save the file as a 'jpeg' or 'tiff' file or similar type of file. The dialogue box at this point only recognizes that 'same sort' of file and other folders. There is nothing wrong here it is the way it is setup in Windows. But, saying that you can change the bottom right hand box on the dialogue box to include ''All files'' simply by clicking on it.

I downloaded some moon pictures to F/Downloads and they still did not show up in my F/Downloads folder, I navigated to my F drive and in the search area on top right, i searched for the keyword moon. all my moon pictures showed up in the index. I right clicked one of the moon pictures and choose properties, and it stated it is located in F/downloads. I then went to F/Downloads again and low and behold they where there now :) . very very Strange, but all is working now as it should be. now if I download a image it shows up in my F/Downloads right away :) Thanks again for all the help everyone.
