windows 7 unexpected shutdown

hey, im not exactly compute savvy

my computer is a dell inspiron 1440 running windows 7

whenever i close the top or it goes into sleep/hibernate (not sure which) when i come back to the computer, it has restarted and i get a message saying windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown

this is NOT a blue screen or anything, it's the normal desktop after a restart, but with one of those messages like windows is trying to "find a solution" for a problem

how do i fix this?

* Please fill in your System Specs.
That will tell us more about your Operating System & thus allow us to help you in a quicker fashion.

* Have you checked in Event Viewer?
Type eventvwr in search.
Go to the Windows Logs > Application / System > in the left hand column.
Note anything in red that relates to this current problem.
Please record the event ID, and the Source Code and tell us what they are.

there are a bunch (perhaps a thousand?) of these.

the "Source" is either "RestartManager" or "MsiInstaller" for many of these

there are many different event IDs, some examples are 10000 or 10001 (for those that have RestartManager in the source column) and 1040, 1035, 1042 for those with "MsiInstaller" in the Source column

actually, there look to be other Sources too, such as ESENT and WMI, among others.

under the "System" Tab, the most common source error is "Service Control Manager" and the most common event ID is "7036"

*I note your System Specs have been overlooked...

* Re Event Viewer.
We only need the Event ID & Source that coincide with the problem you currently have.{ & seek help for}

EventLog Error

When My Win 7 64 bit shuts down unexpectedly, I notice that right before I get the "critical" error with the kernel-power being lost, I notice how there is always an event log right before it stating "The previous system shutdown at [time and date] was unexpected." How do I fix this?
