Recent documents not working in Start Menu

    Hi all!

About a year ago, my pinned IrfanView icon in the start menu stopped showing recent documents. The "arrow button" was still there, indicating that there should be some documents to display, but none showed up. Even the pinned documents were gone. When I opened new documents with the program, the list failed to repopulate.

I made a thread here. There were no solutions. In time, I learned to accept that images couldn't be accessed via Start Menu.

Now, yesterday the same problem occurred with Adobe Reader. I had an occurrence of the Adobe Reader crashing around the time this issue became evident.

In summary, this seems more like a Windows issue, not a bug of an individual program.

I have not cleared or turned recent items off and on. Clear recent items on exit is turned off. I don't log off often. Other recent documents work as they should.

    How can I fix this?

    Thanks! :)

    Hello Higgins,

It sounds like some sort of issue with your jump lists. You could use the tutorial below to reset and clear jump lists to see if that may help. If you like, create a restore point before doing this. This way you could do a system restore back if it doesn't help, or you do not like the results.

Jump Lists - Reset and Clear All Items

    Hope this helps,
