Need Help. Computer won't start

Ok. So last night I came back from going out. My computer was making an annoying noise, really hard to explain almost like a sound when your hard drive is overworking or really old.... My computer isn't even a half year old. I was to tired to try anything so i just hit the turn off button.

I had to go to work early this morning so I just got home. I tried turnning it on this afternoon, it didn't normally. Gave me an option to start normally or safe mode. I tried to start normally. Windows started and then just froze. Keep in mind the Hard drive or w/e is making this noise still while trying to start windows. So since that didn't work I tried to start in safe mode. This didnt' work either and gave me the message about my SATAo drive or something not working properly.

What do I do? Am I screwed? Will I have to spend a lot of money to fix this or is it something I can do myself? It said I could unplug it an plug back in? But I don't think that would work...

do you have a Windows 7 installation dvd, repair disk or just press F8 and enter recovery environment. Then do a startup repair. Open the case of your desktop and listen carefully what's making the noise

Sounds like classic hard drive failure. You could buy a new one and try to recover it yourself or as your system should be within warranty then you can get the store to sort it out. You have probably lost any data on the drive though.

Edit: if windows gave you the error message then the drive is still reading and not completely failed. (I re-read your post I previously thought the BIOS had posted the SATA0 problem)

Back up your stuff, just in case and test the hard drive
Test Hard Drive HD Diagnostic or this test Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

As your computer is only six months old you should be able to get it fixed while it's under warranty so I'd contact the manufacturer or reseller if I were you.

Yes, call Tech Support if factory OEM and they will confirm HD is bad and RMA it for replacement.

If it's home built then now's a good time to consider replacing HD with an SSD for best performance of all. We'll help you get a perfect reinstall of Windows 7.

If the HD shows up in BIOS setup, then booting the HD Diagnostics Rich linked may be able to repair the HD if it detects it and will run the Extended Scan.

That should be enough info to get it RMA'd.

If you can back up your stuff. Your hd days are numbered. If worse comes to worse, put HD in baggie put in freezer overnight and then save your stuff right a way.

Time to backup important files to external disk (if possible). The drive is dead or dying
