    opening multiple programs


    why is it that every time I have a program open and then without closing it I open another program it opens behind the program that is already open?

    Need more specific information as to which programs you're referring to. But in the meanwhile, here's some help for you. I hope one of these tutorials addresses your specific problem:

    ALWAYS ON TOP – TASKBAR
    Taskbar Always On Top - Disable or Enable

    ALWAYS ON TOP – TASK MANAGER

    ALWAYS ON TOP – 3RD PARTY APPS
    Always On Top - Keep any window visible always
    Window On Top
    Nail It will keep any window on top (free)

    Since the "Always On Top" feature is not built into Win 7 you must have a 3rd party app causing this behavior.
    Have you tried right-clicking and unchecking "Always On Top"?

    Imperfect1 is right though, we need to know which programs are doing this. All of them? Or just one?

    happens with all programs
    the focus is always on 1st program opened
    If word pad is open and I want to open another program the focus goes to word pad not the newly opened program
