Says I'm Administrator but is really not

Hello, I'm having trouble downloading some things and saving files on my computer. I just recently bought a new toshiba laptop. It's Windows 7 Home Premium Satellite C655D 64-bit. I only have one account and it is set as the Administrator, but when I go to "change my account type" it says I'm set as a standard user, and when I go to click on Administrator user, the "change account type" button won't let me click it. I set a password for it to see if that would help but still nothing. any ideas?

Try starting in safe mode Safe Mode and see if you can change it from there. Beyond that, I would contact the store you bought the laptop from, or get on the manufacturer's site and see if one of their technical support people can help.

Also, just curious, but what happens if you go into start menu, click all programs, click applications, right click the command prompt, and click run as administrator? What kind of dialog box do you see?
