Where is the Best Place to Purchase Windows 7 ?

    Can anyone help me ?

I need to add Windows 7 to my Apple Mac.

Where is the best place and cheapest place to purchase it.

Whats the difference with 32bit and 64bit and how do i decide what is best for my Mac ?

    Thanks

I don't know about "special" deals, but Amazon's site in the UK would be a starting point.

Hello AdrianHibbert and welcome to the forums

As a fellow Brit, you can benefit from these discounts:

Windows 7 Student upgrade | Buy Win 7 on student discount

They are great deals but you have to either be a parent of a student, a student or a teacher to be eligible for these prices. To date, I have bought Windows 7 Ultimate and Office 2010 through them. Don't be put off by the upgrade disc though, as you can follow this tutorial to do a clean install of Windows with an upgrade disc:

Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Sorry if you aren't eligible for these discounts, but I thought I might as well have an input in this thread :)

Have a look at Software4Students as well.

Student discounts, deals & offers for premium software in UK

Around £38 for the upgrade version of Windows 7 64-bit, but as Tom correctly points out you can do a clean install with the upgrade version.

It will depend on your Mac CPU also whether you can run the 64 bit version.

    Hello Adrian.
Best place I found for Windows cheaply was on Amazon.
Try http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...C8X4&sn=R-DUNN. It contains both 64bit and 32bit. That will help you. If your computer is run on 64 bit then that may help. If it's 32bit then use the 32bit disc.

I buy all my computer wares from ebuyer.com they have the best customer service and fastest postage within the UK.

The retail full version contains both 64 and 32bit, there is a lot of difference but the main one is your not limited to 4gb ram with 64 bit.

Have a look at parallels desktop 9, its a great program that I run on my mac, that runs windows in a virtual machine, with in mac osx, it hides windows within osx so its like you've got 2 operating systems in one, your start menu is along the top with the mac stuff and its not a windowed virtual experience its all fluid with mac. Way better than dual booting

I am looking to Install Windows onto my iMac 10.7 Lions, which I only recently bought.

I also need to install Windows 7 also using Parallels 7 Desktop as I need to use Windows and Mac at the same time.

Can I still use the Windows 7 upgrade version ?
