I just experienced this exact issue when I upgraded my HTPC which uses my 46" Sony bravia as a monitor. Damn....I like that swirly window thing and thought it would be cool on my home theater start-up....

The install went really well other than the start-up animation. I also noticed that my Windows Easy Transfer file restore put a Vista desktop back onto my Win7 install. I would have suspected that I screwed the pooch and upgraded in place instead of a clean custom upgrade except for the fact that I went from Vista x86 Home premium to Windows 7 x64 home premium so that is not a possibility....therefore the Windows Easy Transfer moved one of the Vista desktop backgrounds also. Easy enough to fix though.

use the monitor on the "working" win 7 machine and see if that helps

has to do with the resolution during bootup

you didnt say if you tried changing monitor

i had this is issue on a machine connected to a 42" LG LCD TV and when I connected it to and old lcd monitor the new animation showed up (in this particualar case I didnt run any commands at all)

Please try to use the monitor from the machine that has the new animation and see if that helps

might sound wierd but its the truth =)
