Can't boot to Windows dvd after "bootsect /nt60 C:\"

Hi all

I recently installed Ubuntu onto my parents old (ish) Asus machine to see if they'd like it, but it turns out it doesn't fit so well with the hardware. In the process of removing it, I followed a tutorial booting into the command like from the repair option of the Windows DVD and entering

bootsect /nt60 C:\

to get rid of the grub boot before deleting my linux partitions. This didn't seem to work, however (Grub screen came up as usual) so I attempted to log back in to the repair disc and try something different. Now, however, when I hit a key to boot from the DVD as before, the screen goes dark and... nothing happens. Since messing around with the command line is a little above my normal skill level, I'm a little stuck for what to do now.

I just want to find an easy way to get rid of Ubuntu - all help gratefully received.

You wanted to mark Win7 partition Active then run Startup Repair 3 Separate Times to repair or rewrite the System boot files to Win7 if it has not been corrupted by GRUB.

You'll need to get the Win7 DVD or System Repair Disk to boot first to proceed. Make sure you've set the DVD/CD drive first to boot in BIOS setup: How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD

Next try using the one-time BIOS boot menu key given on first screen to trigger disk.

You may be able to recover the ability to boot disk by resetting BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS.

Do you have Recovery Disks which should have been made when you set up the computer? Is the Recovery Partition still intact to try running it if necessary? Try rebooting and tapping F8 key to see if Repair console is still on the menu, and if Factory Recovery is still one of it's choices.

Do you have access to a WIn7 installation DVD if necessary to clean reinstall Win7 using the Product Key on COA sticker? Reinstalling Windows 7

Do you have files to rescue? You can use the Repair CD or DVD if you can boot it: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console. Paragon Rescue CD should also autostart to copy out your files if you can't boot disk.

If all else fails you can boot free Partition Wizard which will autostart on its own, to Wipe the HD from disk tab, which will force the Recovery Disks or Win7 Installation DVD to also autostart.
