    REg: How to block Downloads


    Hi,

    Is there a way to block video or audio video files to be downloaded from internet in windows 7. If so can anyone help me how to do it in the system level or router level

    Hi there
    not sure how to block what's actually downloaded but you can "Blacklist" sites etc. It won't work if you actually try and block a video file "per se" --after all if the user saves as a ".zip" or even a "txt" file how will your system know a video file is being downloaded. Even more difficult if the download is done Indirectly and then sent as an email attachment -- although some email services might "moan" at a 4GB or so attachment.

    Your best bet is to do this by attrition --set up a proxy server, log sites accessed and gradually block these.

    However once you allow ANY download it doesn't take a very smart kid to find 1001 zillion ways around any sort of parental control or other safety scheme.

    The only SURE way to stop this type of activity is to block ENTIRE access to the internet.

    A partial solution is to allow NO WRITE access or CREATE privileges on ANY HDD and block any external USB devices from being installed. However to get windows to function it does need some write access on TEMP type files so I pass over to more technical guys who might have a better answer.

Hello Guys, I find this to be quite embarrassing, having an issue like this that I can't figure out. Here's what I can't do. 1. Ping DG (Default Gateway) 2. Ping my IP (96.46.29.108) 3. Can't access my router via remote, even though its setup to allow it.
I found this great website which instructs you how to block IE 10. I had it installed and then my screen started to go black and then BSOD's. My games would not play. What you need to do is to remove the following Updates that were pushed the last Patch Tuesday. Now this is applicable to Windows...

Bad Block

I have a movie file (3.84GB) that I downloaded, and want to move it to a new location, but each time I try it fails. Apparently, it not because of something being wrong with the movie itself, because it works fine when playing. but the error dialog says that it can't read from the file or source. ...
