I give up with trying to run dual boot Vista x64/Windows 7 x64 on my laptop.. ugh

Can't get Vista to shrink the C: Drive enough to fit Windows 7...

    Total Drive Size: 149.05GB
    Free Space: 90.64GB

Total Size before shrink in MB: 152625
Size of available space in MB: 10087
Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB: 10087
Total size after shrink in MB: 142538

Followed instructions online (defrag, page file stuff, restore, hibernation, ect) with no luck.

Barefootkid. Thanks very much for that post and thanks to all for the welcome.
Barefoot, that video tutorial is excellent and has reassured me that I can do the dual boot. I'll probably wait until Friday as I have the day off and can spend as long as I need, take it slowly etc.
I noticed mention of an activation key during the video and it seemed to say that without such a key the trial would stop working after 30 days.
Is this the case or can activation keys be obtained.
    Thanks once again, john:)

Thanks Mr Grim. I'm downloading it as I write. Can't wait to try it but I'll have to I reckon otherwise I'll mess up as I'm half asleep right now. Cheers, John

Thanks. It was ALOT harder than I thought to get Vista C: Drive partitioned enough to make Windows 7 fit!

    Hi 96accord,

One major problem with the vista built in drive manager is that it will not move system files.
Vista does tend to create the virtual memory file and system restore points at the end of the drive
one trick that may work is to temporaraly switch off the virtual memory and the system restore (remember your backups!! ) to free the disk space at the end of the system partition which will allow the Disk manager to shink into free space.

Has helped in the past but the easiest way is to use a 3rd party tool

The important thing is that you figured it out and probably learned something in the process and that's what really matters.
