    Why Pro or Ultimate?

I paid $250 for Vista Ultimate Upgrade and there is no way I am going to make that same mistake with windows 7. I will keep my Vista which I paid $400 for. So I am going to buy Home Full (not upgrade) and get a 3rd party backup. So what good is Pro or Ultimate to someone who is no longer working in the computer field?

Home has backup but not network back up, you can find out the differences between the versions here. Compare Windows 7 Editions

Why would you pay $400? Did you buy Vista home for $150 and then Vista Ultimate for another $250?

You might as well stick with what you got. W7 didn't look that much different from Vista and besides, Vista will be supported well past 2013 (the year they stop supporting XP).

Man, you should have just paid $250 for the Vista Ultimate upgrade and did a clean install using XP or 2000 as a qualified installed product.

Choosing the correct version depends on your usability and needs. you can compare your needs as said by YupYup. For average users, professional is a good choice.

$150 for XP and $250 for Vista Ultimate upgrade = $400 and now you can not use XP.

I don't understand why most people pay retail prices. OEM editions are legal and siginificantly cheaper. $189 for a full copy of Vista Ultimate from NewEgg or Amazon.

The only difference between the OEM copy and the retail is that you can legally transfer the license to another computer. If you upgrade a lot, that might be worth it to buy Retail.. but for most people, generally not.
