folder created in XP unable to function well in WIN7

So I've created a special folder in my previous XP OS with below command:

    mkdir c:\abc..\

So it will be end up with a folder name which people will not able to access it using mouse click unless with a special command in command prompt so the folder will be activated. The command is as follow:

    start c:\abc..\

So there are so many personal files i've stored within this Special Folder and now when i comes with WIN 7 with the same command in the command prompt, the special folder just shown up with nothing within!!!

I'm sure all my personal files is still in there since the harddisk shown the capacity is being used but WIN7 just don't make it appear to me.

Anyone know how to solve this problem?

Hello seowming and welcome to SevenForums.

Have you checked if your files are hidden? Go to Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Show hidden files and folders

(The same using command prompt: type dir C:\\abc...\ /ah to see if if there are hidden files in your folder. If so, you have to use attrib command within your abc... folder to unhide files. Type cd c:\\abc... and press enter, then type attrib -h *.* )

That's about only thing I can think of now.

Have you tried right clicking on the folder and looking at the permissions/owner?
