Whenever i open a folder containing .DAT video file windows explorer stops responding.Pls help me.
Anil,
Reading your entire thread, I can say it that it is a codec related problem. Asking again, what codecs and players are installed ATM ?
First, uninstall all the players and codecs . Use Revo Uninstaller Freeware to perform those uninstallations, so that there is no leftovers . See it now ... can you browse the folders those contain video files ? Does explorer crash anymore ?
If not, download VLC media player (latest version, 2.0.1) and Shark007's FREE Codec solutions - Windows 7 codecs . Use shark's codecs at it's default settings. *Nothing else !
The crashing, I guess , caused by some old and corrupted mpeg splitters ... so now it should not occur anymore.
But if it continue to crash, post it in Crashes and Debugging - Windows 7 Forums , following the https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html . I hope our BSoD team will find it out properly which element is causing the crash .
It could be related to thumbnail generation.
I always deselect that option when I install MPC (I don't need the delay it causes).
Try setting your Video "Folder Template" to "Details" or "List" view.
Tank u all for ur help & support in solving my problems.I reinstalled my windows 7 PE 32-bit on 14.04.12.
