    Unable to start Task Scheduler

Windows Task Scheduler seems determined to fail me.
When I try to run it, it simply says "remote computer was not found," and the service is useless.
I tried running services.exe and starting Task Scheduler from there, but it 'starts and stops,' with the following message:
"The Task Scheduler service on Local Computer started and the stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
This makes no sense, and I need to degrag asap. Any help would be great, thank you.

Defrag? Simply type defrag in the start menu and select Disk defragmenter.

As for task scheduler, is it your local machine (the one you're in front of) that's not working (as opposed to remotely accessing another machines task scheduler)

Have you 'tweaked' ie disabled, any other services?

Defrag won't run unless Task Scheduler is on.
It can't find local computer, as in the one I'm using. My machine is my home computer and isn't part of a network.
I've never messed with services before, at least that I'm aware of.

I must confess I did not know that.

    This may be of help:

I already tried sfc /scannow, and it didnt see any issues.
As previously mentioned, I can't start it directly, as it seems to stops itself.
When I get home, I'll try making another user account to do it. *fingers crossed*
